About Anadolu Kavağı Village

Anadolu Kavağı Village View

Located at the northern end of the Bosphorus where the strait meets the Black Sea, Anadolu Kavağı has been an important strategic point for centuries. Originally a small Byzantine settlement, it later became an Ottoman fishing village. The village sits beneath the imposing Yoros Castle, which controlled access to the Black Sea.

Today, this charming village retains much of its traditional character despite its proximity to Istanbul. With no cars allowed in most areas, the narrow streets and waterfront promenade offer a peaceful experience. The village is famous for its seafood restaurants, which serve fresh catches daily. Local fishermen still bring their boats in each morning, continuing traditions that have endured for generations.

The 20-minute walk up to Yoros Castle rewards visitors with spectacular panoramic views of the Bosphorus meeting the Black Sea, with the European side visible across the water. On clear days, the view extends far into both bodies of water, highlighting why this location was so strategically valuable throughout history.

This cruise was the perfect blend of sightseeing and authentic experience. The journey along the Bosphorus was beautiful, with the guide pointing out all the important landmarks. The real highlight was Anadolu Kavağı village - a charming place that feels miles away from busy Istanbul. We hiked up to Yoros Castle for incredible views and had a delicious fish lunch at one of the waterfront restaurants. Great value for a 5-hour experience.

A wonderful way to spend half a day in Istanbul! The cruise itself was relaxing with beautiful scenery throughout. I loved seeing how the shores change as you move toward the Black Sea. The village stop was lovely - quaint and authentic with minimal tourist traps. The climb to the castle is steep but absolutely worth it for the spectacular views. Just bring water if it's hot and wear proper shoes!

Very enjoyable cruise with beautiful views of both European and Asian shores. The audio guide was informative without being overwhelming. Anadolu Kavağı was picturesque and I enjoyed the fresh seafood. The boat was comfortable though quite full. One thing to note - the return journey doesn't have commentary, so take good photos on the way up! Overall a good value excursion if you have half a day to spare.
